If you need to remove mold from a Little Tikes plastic toy, add three drops of tea tree oil to a spray bottle filled with hot water. If you shake any outdoor plastic toys and hear water sloshing inside the plastic, select several spots one inch away from any seam on the bottom of the toy near the sound and drill small holes to drain out water. Standing water can attract disease-carrying mosquitoes or act as the perfect environment for mold. If you're cleaning outdoor plastic toys-especially porous Little Tikes polyethylene furniture-tip the furniture over to pour out any water in the plastic. Wipe all surfaces with lint-free microfiber cloths or air-dry in indirect sunlight. Rinse under running tap water or spray from a garden hose.ĭry the toy completely. I have to say, I’m pretty pleased with how this little painted playhouse makeover turned out! But don’t ask me.Rinse the toy thoroughly to remove any soap residues. This thing is bigger than her, but she strong armed it and did just fine! We just need to get her a kid sized watering can. I took her to Home Depot and let her pick out her own flowers and she’s actually got pretty decent taste! She’s been asking for a garden for a long time but she would be real sad if I was in charge of her garden. Helps keep her feet less muddy while she’s playing and it allows her to sit on the ground or kneel in there without getting her knees all scraped up. I bought this almost 2 years ago from Zulily (but here is a similar one) and hadn’t even opened the box yet, but it was the perfect addition. They look a little worn because I put them in and then it stormed super bad overnight, but whatever. This is actually a foam playmat that looks like hardwoods! It’s brilliant for inside your little plastic playhouse. We paid almost $6 for each of our numbers for our mailbox. Those cute little already dirty gardening tools were $1 each at the Target dollar spot too!ĭoes her house number look familiar? It should! We used the exact numbers on our mailbox makeover! Except we found them at a local scratch and dent store for $1!!! The sweet little glass doorknob is from Hobby Lobby. The entire reason this project started was because I saw that envelope and had to have it, but needed an excuse to use it. The hanging succulent and the little wood and tin post envelope are from the Target dollar spot! Let’s talk some of my favorite details about this playhouse makeover.

I would have loved to added a cute little doormat and may do that one day, but for the moment, this is an extra one that we already had so it was free and I was trying to do this as budget friendly as possible. This was my favorite part! You have so much creative liberty with this and you don’t even have to spend a ton of money. Last step is to put your toy playhouse back together and start adding little details to make it yours. So, here you can either prime your pieces and let them dry and then begin painting or you can just get right on in there and paint it, a la us. Partly because we used spray paint with primer built in, partly because we’re lazy. Once your playhouse is completely dry, this is where I should tell you to prime all your pieces, but we didn’t do that. It’s super important that it’s clean so that the paint will stick to it.

We just needed to give this little plastic playhouse a facelift. But a free outdoor playhouse was absolutely in the budget. We eventually would love to put a nice playset here, but that’s not in the budget. Even for me as an adult so I can’t imagine why our littles would want to go out and play. The only problem is our outside is so boring.
We have a super family friendly neighborhood and we really do feel safe here! The walk from inside the house out to my car is about as much “outside” as I can stand.īut what’s even weirder is I really want my babes to love playing outside.
